My name is Kate Isenberg. I'm a writer, animator, and comics artist living in Los Angeles.
I recently completed my animated short film DEAR DEATH, with the help of a production fellowship from Matt Groening. The film grew out of my longtime comic strip, STEWBALL, which for years I delivered on foot around my home city of San Francisco.
Stewball got his name from the old folk song about the horse who comes from behind to win a championship race. But my Stewball's biggest competition is with himself. He has big dreams and bigger anxieties: a recipe for an existential dilemma that's equal parts comedy and drama, with an unforgettable heart.

Now making its way on the festival circuit from Brazil to China and everywhere in between, DEAR DEATH has become the jumping-off point for Stewball's next act.
