Stewball, POTENTIAL
Soon after college, I began drawing and self-distributing the print comic strip Stewball, about a bipedal horse with an existential dilemma. Over time, I developed Stewball beyond being a "just" a horse. I realized his internal conflicts are best dramatized through Stewball as a half-horse, half unicorn: a mashup of comedy and tragedy, satire and sincerity, worldly ambition and otherworldly muse.
Although many kids intuitively recognize Stewball and his friend Hammergoat as kindred spirits, I write Stewball comics primarily for an adult audience, in a naive drawing style akin to that of Jules Feiffer, William Steig, or Tomi Ungerer.
My most recent Stewball work takes the form of animated film and webcomics. Please follow Stewball on Instagram for his most recent adventures, and visit his official website.
Below, you will find some early comics from Stewball's archive.
