Friends and fellow performers since they began acting and singing together in their seventh-grade class play, Rupa Marya and Kate Isenberg formed acoustic duo Vice Versa in 1997, incorporating strands of folk, rock, blues, and jazz. Their songs' arrangements, each a unique collaboration by Rupa (vocals, guitar, mandolin, percussion) and Kate (vocals, guitar, violin), emphasize complex harmonies and dynamic instrumentation. Their influences include Simon & Garfunkel, the Indigo Girls, the Police, and Cake. In 1999 Vice Versa released a CD named ALBUM, now in its second printing. From 1999 to 2001, the two musicians captured the attention of audiences on both coasts: in San Francisco, at venues such as the Paradise Lounge and the Last Day Saloon; in Washington, D.C., at Iota Club and the Barns of Wolf Trap. Rupa and Kate also made several tours of Atlanta, where they won accolades in several songwriting contests at the acoustic hotspot Eddie's Attic. Though now working as solo songwriters, Kate and Rupa have been known to moonlight on each other's new musical projects. Buy this CD.
