Henry Ennui got an email yesterday
Sent to him by his daughter with a sideways smiley face
"Dear Dad, Guatemala's great, but the Peace Corps's kind of dead
And I am still trying to find myself, so I thought I'd shave my head"

Henry's keyboard doesn't have a letter
For a sideways face with both despair and laughter
So how can he reply?
How can he reply?

Come on and kick me, I'm a rubber ball
And that's what I'm for
Come on and kick me, I'm a rubber ball
And I have no core

Henry Ennui runs a comb down the middle of his heart
Straightens up the graying strands and divides them into parts
The part that's lying flattened down is the upright family man
And the part that's stuck up straight played guitar in leather pants

Henry's parts don't make up a whole
Unless you count the hole in the middle of his heart
Tomorrow is another day
But baby blue has turned to gray

Come on and kick me, I'm a rubber ball
And that's what I'm for
Come on and kick me, I'm a rubber ball
And I have no core

Who am I today?
Who am I?
He is only human

Henry Ennui's got an office of his own
He read a lot of books in school but there's a thing called a telephone
Now it's dangle all day
Doodling right angles let your lifetime slip away

Henry's dangling from a web
Of tangled dreams and what if
No more tears, no, that's for kids
Now straighten up and take it

Come on now, come on, I'm a rubber ball, and that's what I'm for
Come on and kick me, I'm a rubber ball
And I have no core
Who am I now? Who am
I'm a rubber ball
A sideways face, an empty space, a message easily erased
So come on and kick me
Who me? Yes, I'm a rubber ball
And I have no
